Situated in the beautiful Bay of Plenty - OMC is a busy, Cornerstone accredited practice with 6 doctors servicing an enrolled population of approx. 6000 Patients. We also have a sister practice nearby in Bethlehem and so there are plenty of opportunities for Peer support.

The practice itself is less than 10 years old and also has a Pharmacy, Dentist and Physiotherapist based on the same site.

We do not open at weekends or evenings (preferring to opt in to the local After Hours service provision) and so your free time can truly be spent enjoying life in ‘The Bay’

Co-designing a template for the Management of Long Covid in Primary Care

We are a team of researchers based at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington working on a project called “Evidence-based Management of Long Covid”.

The study leads are Associate Professor Lynne Russell (Ngāti Kahungunu, Rangitāne, Kāi Tahu, Ngāti Porou) and Associate Professor Mona Jeffreys. One part of this project is to co-design a template for the management of Long Covid in primary care. We have heard from about 50 people with Long Covid, and will be working iteratively with a small group of them to refine initial ideas of what would meet their needs.

Your professional input to this work would also add great value. We would like to invite you to take part in two workshops, to be held online on Mondays 1^st Sept and 13^th October 2025, from 10.00am to 11.00am. Alternative dates/times can be arranged if needed.

This year’s whakataukī was chosen because this is a significant time for health care in New Zealand especially in primary care and rural hospital medicine. Our workforce continues to be a topical issue as does the number of doctors we can attract to train in the profession.

A sense of belonging is a human need that reduces feelings of isolation and stress through connection to others and feeling supported by a larger community. It's what allows us to feel connected to the people and places – our communities – where we spend so much of our time.

The conference programme is being created with GPs’ and rural hospital doctors’ interests and scopes in mind, as well as medical students, registrars and the wider primary health care sector.

Alongside a robust clinical conference programme featuring informative plenary presentations, panel discussions, and practical sessions led by sector experts, there is a day of hands-on CME/Clinical Skills workshops covering topics like resuscitation, LARC, early detection of melanoma, ingrown toe excision, eardrum examination, cognitive screening, and joint injections – and more.
